ABOUT
Meryth Dobbie is an artist from Golden Bay New Zealand. Her art features New Zealand native birds (they are such characters!), and she also does a range of other creative pursuits such as dressmaking & jewellery design.
Meryth grew up in New Zealand, then travelled the world for many years - spending 5+ years working in the tailoring industry in London (Savile Row and Alfred Dunhill), then 2 years in Kazakhstan (yes that is right!) studying, teaching and creating art. I travelled the world at the same time, seeking out beautiful culture and art from just about anywhere!
These days she spends most of her time watching, listening and drawing our precious local birdlife in the heart of Golden Bay/Mohua. This is a special spot for observing these colourful characters and gaining an insightful understanding of their place the our world.
After leaving high school she studied various creative subjects, from film making to fine art, and fashion technology. 'I call myself a ‘multidisciplinary artist’, as I bounce from one artform to another to keep my work fresh'.
Meryth exhibits and sells her original art pieces and greeting cards locally in Golden Bay and in select galleries across New Zealand.
She also available to work on commissioned originals with individual clients as per request.
